Past, Present, & Future

For those of you who have followed our journey since the beginning, thank you so much for your support! For those who have recently joined us along the way, welcome to this adventure. Please allow us to introduce ourselves, as we continue with our passionate drive to show you the secrets and inspirations of this incredible place.

Robert (@Mechanical_Whispers_Art) is a visionary artist, photographer, and motion graphics & 3D developer. Nadia (@VodaZNY) is a storyteller, photographer, designer, and architect. We are driven by our love of ancient artifacts, buildings, and landscapes, and all the stories they hold. We dreamt up this idea to preserve the history of the Sedlec Ossuary through our photography, artwork, writings, and beyond. This is a story of Sedlec Ossuary, in our words and through our eyes, past, present, and future. We are so very grateful for all of you who been enjoying & following it. And we hope it continues to grow as more people get inspired and share our stories with others.

Allow us to step back to the beginning of our days we spent exploring the Chech Republic and Kutna Hora, as we first approached Sedlec Ossuary. After months of extensive planning, and securing the proper photography permits, we were ready to start this epic journey. Photographing Sedlec from sunrise to sundown was a monumental start to our project; spending the entire day on our feet, moving from one spot to another. It was also a very humbling experience, watching visitors come & go, with only the bones and skulls remaining constant throughout the day. From the wash of morning light throughout the ossuary, to the haze of midday shade, ending with the warm yellow rays of dusk, the ossuary was constantly changing before our eyes. We explored every new corner, and found new angles to see it from. And even with all the other visitors around us, we could still feel the peacefulness of the space.

Our visit to Sedlec had started our journey, and was only the first part of our ongoing project. In the limited time we had, we took over 2000 high resolution professional photographs, that we have been teasing on our Instagram feed for nearly a year now. In addition, we have been in contact with the Parish of Kutna Hora officials, researching historic information about Sedlec, and combined with our photography, we hope to understand and document this iconic structure. Another part of our project, that we are excited to reveal for the first time, is related to historically preserving this structure in the form of 3D digital scans, and our hope to record and reconstruct some parts that have long since disappeared, so they may be revisited and enjoyed by future generations in both digital and tangible mediums. Where we go from here, and what the future of this project holds, will depend on the wonderful support we receive from our followers. We sincerely appreciate all your help in spreading the word about our project. We will reveal more soon!
